Sedation dentistry
We are a State of Maryland Certified IV Sedation Facility, one of only a handful of practices in the area to offer IV sedation, with a dental anesthesiologist on the team. The level matches how you feel.
For mild nerves, a strong gag reflex, or a busy day.
Breathed through a small nasal mask. Within a minute you feel warm and relaxed, and it wears off almost as soon as the mask comes off. Gentle enough for children.
For moderate to severe anxiety, or longer treatment.
A prescribed pill, taken about an hour before. You stay awake and can answer questions, but you likely will not remember much. Someone needs to drive you.
For extreme fear, or long and complex procedures.
Given through a vein, it works within minutes, and the level can be adjusted as you go. Most people recall little or nothing of the procedure afterwards.
For patients who cannot sit comfortably for long.
Delivered by a team trained for it and monitored closely the whole time. Someone must drive you home and stay with you while it wears off.

We are in network with Delta Dental, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and MetLife, and with other major PPO plans, so call and ask about yours. Even if we are out of network, we still file the claim for you and look for ways to make treatment more affordable.
Yes, and you would not be the first. Nitrous oxide takes the edge off within a minute. Oral conscious sedation is a pill taken about an hour before. We are a State of Maryland Certified IV Sedation Facility, and Dr. Tiu, our dental anesthesiologist, can provide general anesthesia when it is needed.
Along with the sedative, the area is numbed with a local anesthetic, so it is unlikely you will feel pain. Depending on the sedative, you may not remember much of the appointment at all.
Absolutely. Dental implants replace the whole tooth, root to crown, and can keep working for more than 30 years. Our periodontist and prosthodontist complete the whole process here, and the first consultation is free.
No. Invisalign clear aligners are practically invisible and come out to eat. If your bite is too severe for Invisalign, PAOO accelerated orthodontics can cut time in braces in half.
